Center for International Business Education and Research

Florida International University's Center for International Business Education and Research (FIU CIBER) was formally established in October, 1995, with the help of our Advisory Council and some financial support from the U.S. Department of Education.We deliver unique curricular, research, and outreach programs in a cost-effective way to advance FIU's agenda of international teaching, research and outreach. Our purpose is to make our various stakeholders--students, faculty, university community, South Florida business community and residents--more competitive in the global economy. We strive to promote U.S. competitiveness and to be a local and regional resource for ensuring that the U.S. is globally competitive.

CIBER Working Paper Series

CIBER is proud to announce the resumption of our Working Paper Series, which solicits work-in-progress, or nearing completion, to be posted on the CIBER web site, and available to the extensive Department of Education network, as well as all other CIBER Centers.

If your work has an international component, and particularly if it fits the criteria listed above, please consider submitting it to us for posting on our WP series.

PDIB India 2012 - Jan. 3 - 10, 2012

FIU CIBER is proud to announce that we are in the process of organizing our PDIB India 2012 program to Bangalore and Mumbai, India. The program will take place from January 3, 2012 thru January 10, 2012 in Mumbai and Bangalore, India. Like last year, this program will allow participants to experience first hand how multinationals and leading Indian companies are riding the downfall, and how they are sharping the Indian business environment resulting in a much more competitive India. In addition to business visits, participants will visit cultural sites that have deeply impacted the culture of India.

K-12 Language for Business Conference

Mercosur Florida International University's CIBER is proud to announce the 4th Annual K-12
Language for Business Conference: Technologies and Tools for a New Language for
Business Course. This one day conference will be held in Miami on January 14, 2012
at Florida International University. With the support of consulates, language associations,
and cultural organizations, we have selected six language tracks concentrating
on the most relevant languages taught in the classroom today: Spanish, Portuguese,
Chinese, Italian, Japanese, and French
.

This program will serve to instruct K-12 teachers and junior community college professors on the importance and necessity of incorporating aspects of Language for Business into the standard curricula. In addition, this conference will help provide teachers and professors with materials and practical lessons on how to incorporate and develop a course in the K-12 circular on Language for Business.

13th Annual FDIB in Spain 2012 - June 10 - 16, 2012

FIU CIBER is excited to announce our 13th annual Faculty Development Program, Teaching Spanish for Business, which will take place in Avila and Madrid, Spain from June 10 - 16, 2012. This program is organized by FIU CIBER with the cooperation with the Department of Modern Languages at FIU. This program will provide provide Spanish language faculty with knowledge about business terminology, the methodology of teaching Spanish for Business, information about the business world in Spain and its relationship with the European Union.

Undergraduate Study Abroad Programs

FIU-CIBER offers short term study abroad programs to undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Business. These programs, often with course emphasis on International Business and Management, exposes students to topics in an international setting.
