CONSORTIUM
FOR UNDERGRADUATE INTERNATIONAL
BUSINESS EDUCATION (CUIBE) 2004
Last year, the University
of Missouri - St. Louis instigated the creation of an International
Business Consortium among some of the nation’s leading
universities in this field. This group met for the first time
on the University of Missouri - St. Louis’ campus March
6-8, with the following attendees:
- Robert Hogner - Florida International
University
- Harry Lane - Northeastern University
- Steven Loughrin-Sacco - San Diego State
University
- Arvind Phatak - Temple University
- Lane Kelley - University of Hawaii
- David Ricks, Allan Bird and Julius Johnson,
Jr. - University of Missouri - St. Louis
- David Ralston - University of Oklahoma
- Andrea Poehling - University of Wisconsin
Members of the Consortium who were unable
to attend were Bob Krapfel from the University of Maryland,
and James McCullough from Washington State University.
The first order of business was to create a title for the
new group, which decided to refer to itself as the Consortium
for Undergraduate International Business Education (CUIBE),
as the members decided to focus on undergraduate programs.
The CUIBE members are currently involved in exchanging ideas
and benchmarking each other, and using the results of this
process to improve each school’s programs. All of the
program improvements that arise from these interludes will
be made available as best practices for other schools across
the country through seminars sponsored by CUIBE. The University
of Missouri - St. Louis has been chosen as the information
center for CUIBE, maintaining the list of best practices and
other relevant data. We are extremely enthused about the possibilities
that lie ahead for this group, and look forward to the opportunity
to shape the growth of international business education programs
throughout the nation! |
