Program Description

This Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) program to Perugia, Italy is specifically designed for K-12 and University Italian Instructors. This two-week workshop will provide participants with an in-depth view of the historical, cultural, and social perpectives of Italy.

Daily lectures and group discussions at the University for Foreigners of Perugia will give participants a better understanding of the Italian culture, and resources that they may use in their very own classroom.

Group excursions will give participants first-hand experience on how the Italian culture has shaped Italy with visits to bordering towns and authentic Italian cooking courses.

Participants will stay in a restored Renaissance hotel in the historic center of Perugia. All rooms include private bathroom, TV, free Wi-Fi Internet (in lobby of hotel) and daily breakfast served on the hotel’s rooftop terrace with views overlooking the historical center of Perguia.



Program Fee

Program fee is $2,350 USD per participant. The program fee includes hotel accommodations (based on double occupancy) with daily breakfast and most lunches and dinners, lectures and workshops at teh University for Foreigners of Perugia, and planned cultural excurions to nearby towns, including authentic Italian cooking courses. International airfare is not included in the program fee. Please see the International Travel Information section below.

Single rooms, and rooms with air conditioning may be reserved at an additional cost.

International Travel Information

Participants will be required to arrange their own international airfare to Perugia, Italy. Participants should make their travel arrangements so that they arrive in Perugia, Italy by noon on Sunday June 16th, 2013, and should plan to depart from on Saturday, June 29, 2013. Depending on the size the group and the flight schedules of each participant, group transportation from the airport to the hotel may be available.

Tentative Program Schedule

This tentative program schedule is subject to change. Participants will receive a final program schedule one week prior to departure. Program materials will be mailed to the participants prior to departure from the U.S. Workshops and presentations will be conducted in Italian.

Visa Information

For travel to Italy, citizens of Canada, the U.S. and most Western European countries will not need visas; participants from Colombia and a few other Latin American countries will need visas.

Participants should contact the Italian consulate nearest their home on information about applying for a visa to Italy.

Travel Insurance

Participants are encouraged to purchase international travel insurance that covers emergency medical evacuation and repatriation of remains. Participants may contact STA TRAVEL at 1-800-387-2427 or purchase online at www.statravel.com or any other International travel insurance company.

How to Register

Participants who wish to register for this program should complete the online application by clicking the "Register Now" button below. Once submitted, participants will receive a confirmation e-mail with additional information.

A $500 deposit will be due within 2 weeks of registering. An invoice for the deposit will be emailed after registering. Final payments are due by March 1, 2013.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 1, 2013.

Participants are also required to submit clear copies of the following documents to our office:

  1. Copy of valid passport.
  2. Copy of driver's license.
  3. Copy of health insurance cards (front and back).
  4. Release and Assumption of Risk form
  5. A half page updated biography.
  6. International Travel Itinerary (Please submit at least one week prior to the start of the program)

Unfortunately we cannot accept fax copies of these documents due to clarity issues. Participants can e-mail color scanned copies to ciber@fiu.edu, mail to our mailing address below, or drop them off in our office.
