Eighth Annual
Spanish Language Immersion Program in PERU
Spanish Language and Cultural Immersion
July
2008
The Eighth Annual Spanish
Language Immersion Program in Peru designed for faculty from
Business Administration and others interested in learning
“Business Spanish”. In this two weeks program,
CIBER cooperates with the Escuela de Administración
de Negocios para Graduados (ESAN), a non-profit private Peruvian
institution in Lima, Peru the first academic institution to
offer post-graduate business programs in Latin America. ESAN
was established on July 23, 1963 as a result of an agreement
between the Peruvian and the US government and set forward
by the Stanford University Graduate Business School. ESAN
tailors Spanish Business classes to specific faculty needs
for beginners-intermediate levels. The Program seeks to improve
the business language through post-graduate lectures and discussions,
visits to local companies and seminars on Latin American economic
and political history.
The purpose of the program
is to immerse the participants in the Latin American business
culture, teaching them to properly communicate in professional,
academic and business situations. The program has specific
objectives such as developing a broad business vocabulary
base, learning grammatical and linguistic functions and acquiring
communication skills to express themselves in different environments.
To reach these goals the program offers special components
such as tutorials, academic readings, classes to improve business
language proficiency, lectures by subject area experts and
oral presentations related to specific business themes. The
program is a 2-week intensive immersion course with 50 tuition
hours. There is an average of three 1 ½ -hour sessions
from Monday to Thursday, and one or
two days of an additional session in the afternoon. In
addition, tutorial sessions will be programmed in the afternoons
and company and cultural visits will be held on Fridays and
some afternoons. For more information, click
